Starsand Island launches on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the Version 1.0 release on August 18, 2026. Here is everything confirmed by the official Nintendo eShop listing and the Seed Sparkle Lab announcement.

Release timing and file size

The Switch 2 version went live at 5:00 AM PDT on August 18, 2026 — the same global unlock as Steam. The download is 9.7 GB and supports 1 player locally plus up to 4 players online. Online play uses Nintendo Switch Online, which is required for co-op sessions.

Languages and voice acting

The Switch 2 build supports Japanese, British English, and American English for the user interface, with full Chinese voice acting in cutscenes. Subtitles are available in English and Japanese. Some early-access romance scenes are still voiced only in Chinese with Japanese/English subtitles; the developer has confirmed full English voice is planned.

Joy-Con mouse controls and Switch 2 features

The 2nd-generation Joy-Con can be used sideways as a mouse for the build-mode camera — a small but very welcome addition for placing furniture on your homestead. The HD Rumble 2 feature is supported, and the system recognises the new C-button on the right Joy-Con for quick menus.

What you get at launch

Switch 2 owners get the full Version 1.0 package: 4-player multiplayer, the Autumn Pumpkin Festival, the new 3-heart romance events, hot springs dates, and the Blueprint Contest winners. Console updates roll out on a separate review schedule, so patches may land a day or two after the PC version.
